Has the fire under your marketing campaign died down? Well, don't worry; they all do from time to time. You run out of ideas, get too busy, or hear one too many no's... All of these things can lead to a stagnant marketing campaign. But don't let that get you down, there are plenty of ways to recharge your efforts and kick-start your campaign again. Here are a few for you to consider: Match Making Take an afternoon and begin researching which reporter has written about your topic in the past. Go through the on-line archives of all your local (and national) papers for the last eighteen months and find names of those who have written about your topic. If they've addressed your specific subject matter in the past, they're far more likely to do it in the future. Once you've got your list of reporters together, send them your angle on their topic and watch the responses. It's a match made in newsprint heaven! Enter contests Entering contests can really help promote your book, especially contests like those offered through Writer's Digest and other writing-related magazines. Even if you only end up with an "Honorable Mention" it's still a great promotional tool. Remember that ANY award you receive should be added to your book cover. For a list of writing contests go to: http://www.freelancewriting.com/contests.html Persistence Pays Off If you've been ignored all winter by the media, don't despair! It's spring and ideas are flourishing. Now would be a great time to repitch or revisit those topics that were unsuccessful in the past. Be powerfully persistent and follow up, follow up, follow up. Start an eZINE One of the best methods I've found to spread the word about my work is through this eZINE. Not only is it a helpful source of information, but it's a continual reminder of who you are and what you do. eZINEs don't have to be complicated, they can be a simple straightforward one pager sent biweekly, or monthly. If you're looking for help to get started, try visiting Ezine University, it's a great resource! www.ezineuniversity.com Give a Talk Local book stores are always looking for people to talk to their writers groups. Most of them have groups that meet on a weekly or monthly basis. Ask the book store manager when these groups meet and if you can make a presentation to them on your topic. Eric Gelb, in his book, "Book Promotion Made Easy," says, "Well-planned and targeted events where you attract the right audience will give you valuable publicity, will help you sell books and make contacts to cultivate new opportunities." Submit Articles to Other eZINEs If you have portions of your book that you can excerpt, why not submit them to other ezines? You can post them to the following places and people will be able to include them in their newsletters. www.expertarticles.com Become an Expert Take a look at becoming an expert in your area of expertise. This means registering yourself with web sites that look for these types of people. You can answer questions and offer advice, thereby promoting yourself and your book. www.askanexpert.com & www.allexperts.com Copyright © - Penny C. Sansevieri. - Reprinted with permission.
